Hat Creek 2010 - day 8

Going home

Aaron still had some worms left and if he wasn't going to catch any fish, he at least wanted to feed them.

Meanwhile Nick had fun packing up the van! (Not really. He declared that next year we are renting a trailer.)

Before we headed out everyone wrote in the camp journal. It was really fun to read what everyone has written over the years.

We planned on visiting the train museum in Sacramento on our way home, but we got on the road too late and it was closed. The kids were a little disappointed, but ice cream helped them get over it. The Ice Cream was also a necessity. Before we left for camp we were having a very pleasant summer and hadn't experienced triple digit temperatures yet. The extreme heat finally came while we were gone enjoying mid 80 degree weather. When we stepped out of the car in Sacramento we all went into shock. I think it was about 110 degrees!

On the drive from Sac to Fresno Nick taught the kids how to get the trucks to honk! Even Lila loved it.

As usual, we weren't ready to go home. But it was a little easier knowing that we will be back next year.

We were just in Sacramento a few weeks ago, and YES, it was very hot!!! It was probably even moreso for you!
