Aaron turns 8!!!

After the Jelly Belly factory we packed up the car and headed back home so that we could get ready for Aaron's birthday.

His birthday was on a Sunday this year and church starts at 9am, so I woke up super early and made his requested breakfast of orange rolls(so yummy) bacon, and eggs. After breakfast he got to go on his birthday present hunt. Most of the event was captured on video, but we did take a few pictures.

He really, really wanted a Nintendo DS and had asked Santa to bring him one, so he wasn't at all expecting to get one for his birthday!!

His reaction on video was priceless.

Another priceless moment was when he opened his pocket knife from Great-Grandma and Grandpa Siggy. They put the box inside a toothpaste box and he really thought they had given him toothpaste. He smiled the whole time and there was no trace of disappointment on his face. I was very proud of him! We finally convinced him to open the box and see if he liked the flavor of the toothpaste. He was almost as excited about the knife as he was the DS.

After church Aaron requested BLT's for lunch, then we thought we would drive over to the temple to take some pictures. Ali and Christian (only being engaged one day at that point) were with us too. I didn't think about the fact that the temple gates would be locked on a Sunday, so we didn't end up taking many pictures, but I did snap a few of the happy couple! Chrissy took some not long after that, and I'm almost embarrassed to post these. I've seen one of the pictures she took and it is AMAZING!!

For dinner Aaron wanted Spinach and cheese filled pasta shells and french bread. I'm sure we had a yummy dessert too, but I can't remember what it was. Hopefully Aaron will.

It was a low key day but Aaron had fun. He spent a large portion of the day playing games on his DS, trying out his new pocket knife, and terrorizing his sisters with his new remote-controlled tarantula. A perfect day for an 8 year old boy!

I'm just impressed with Aaron's healthy meal choices for his birthday :-)! I've enjoyed all your recent posts and I think your pictures of Ali and her fiance are adorable!

I love how you make each kids birthday all about them. That is a great idea! And that's wonderful to hear that Ali is engaged. Cute pictures, cute kids!
